At 5199m high, it is Africa's second highest mountain, with gleaming and
eroded snow-capped peaks, which can be seen for miles. It is a broad,
large symmetrical volcano cone whose diameter at the base is about 12
km, dating between 2 to 3 million years ago. There are three peaks; Mbatian,
, Nelion and point Lenana. The magnificent views over the surrounding
country from point Lenana and other high points around the main peaks
and trekking on this mountain is a priority among tourists. The forest
surrounding the mountain support a large variety of wildlife such as elephant,
buffalo, monkey, antelope, lion, zebra, eland, rock hyrax, giant forest
hogs, leopard and various species of birds such as eagle, vulture, and
sunbird among others.

DAY 1:
Nairobi - Nanyuki Sirimon Gate - Old Moses
Departure from Nairobi is at 0800 hrs(In Shared
Public Transport ) to Nanyuki From Nanyuki take private
transport and proceed to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp for overnight
(3300m), 3 to 4 hrs hikes (9kms). Old Moses is where you acclimatize as
you also come across different vegetation. : Transport is by Shared
Public Mini Vans
DAY 2: Old Moses - Shipton's Camp
After breakfast Hike to Shipton's camp (4200m )through Liki and Makinders
valley for overnight (6 to 8 hrs hikes) 17 kms.
DAY 3:Shipton's Camp - Lenana - Old Moses
Attempt point Lenana (4985m) at 0300 hrs and descend directly to Old Moses
(Judmair) Camp for overnight .
Day 4: After
breakfast descend to Sirimon Park Gate to catch your vehicle to your next
destination
